The family assistance team connects all Service and Family members, family readiness volunteers, veterans, retirees, and community partners to information and resources in the local community. The team members are information and referral experts across six essential services. Resources are provided to our customers to meet the needs of Service and Family members geographically separated from a military installation to improve their quality of life and well-being.
The Family Assistance Team is the expert service provider on information and referral resources to address finances issues, TRICARE (military health care), military identification cards and DEERS enrollment, legal concerns, community resources, and urgent and critical concerns.
The team is connected to over 10,000 county level, city, state, national, and federal resources. Although the Family Assistance Team is part of the Wisconsin National Guard’s Service Member Support Division, it a “purple” service. This means that regardless of service component and status, the team considers you as one of the customers. We operate under the “No Wrong Door Model” of providing services to our customers.
Michael O’Guinn, Major General, U.S. Army Reserve recently recognized Maryanne Huck, Family Assistance Specialist, for her support of the 807th Military Command Family Readiness Program. He stated, “Through your willingness to share your resources; your program has generally made a difference in the quality of lives of the Soldiers and Families within the command.”
Recognizing that our customers may not be able to reach us during our core business hours, the Family Assistance Team now has expanded customer service office hours. You may reach a Family Assistance Specialist, Monday – Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, from 9:30 to 3 p.m.
After hours family assistance calls are managed by an answering service and callers with an urgent need are transferred to an “on-call” family assistance specialist.
If you or a family member needs information, referral, or resources to services to address quality of life issues and well-being concerns, contact our team of experts during our expanded customer service office hours. We are here for you. We are purple. We can be reached at 1-800-292-9464 option 3 or by visiting our website at www.wiscosninmilitary.org.
