National Volunteer Appreciation Week is 17 – 23 April 2022.  This observance provides us an opportunity to recognize the volunteers that support and serve the Department of Military Affairs. As an organization, we are stronger with volunteer support.  Since 1974, communities around the country and globally use this week to celebrate the dedicated contribution of their volunteers.

Communities and organizations traditionally gather during Volunteer Appreciation Week to recognize volunteers, share ideas and best practices, as well as launch new programs and initiatives.  Over the last two years, our communities have persevered while meeting and learning virtually, connecting while social distancing, and growing stronger by working together, and living the new normal of life during a pandemic.  Our volunteers adapted and adopted creative ways to continue to support the Department of Military Affairs and their local Wisconsin communities.

Let’s join communities and organizations across the state and celebrate the strength and power of volunteerism by sharing our stories and inspiring others to serve.  We are stronger with your support.  The Service Member Support Directorate challenges you to highlight the volunteers in your organizations who make a difference by sharing stories, videos, and photographs on our Facebook pages Family Programs:,  or the Child and Youth Program: include #WINGSTRONGER
