The Wisconsin National Guard has a new directorate, Service Member Support or J9. Leading the J9 is Lieutenant Colonel Christina Schmoker. Within the Service Member Support Division, this change will be seamless to “you,” our customer. We are committed to ensuring that Service members and their families are informed, prepared, and empowered to thrive in the unique environment associated with the citizen-soldier Guard lifestyle.
When quality of life issues and concerns challenge our military families and their communities, the Wisconsin National Guard has a variety of information, resources, and a partnership with many community-based organizations standing by ready to assist Service members, unit commanders, retirees, veterans, and our communities. Personal and family readiness strengthen operational readiness. Family Strong is Guard Strong. Guard Strong is Community Strong.
Service Member Support has five key lines of effort. These lines of effort are as follows: Family Readiness, Badger Yellow Ribbon, Warrior Resilience and Fitness, Diversity and Inclusion, and Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention. Soldier & Family Readiness Specialists (S&FRS) are located in 8 armories designated as Family Assistance Centers across the state. The S&FRS team supports personal and family readiness as well as family assistance initiatives for the Wisconsin National Guard. If you have a question, concern, or are experiencing a quality of issue, the S&FRS team can be reached by calling our 24-hour Family Assistance Line at 1-800-292-9464 option 1.
